My favorite style of holster is pictured here, a pair of Miles City, MT pattern holsters (note the riveted loops and the tear drop, sewn in toe plug) for a 5 1/2" Colt SAA. This style was made famous by the Moran Brothers and J. S. Collins and was often finished in a very dark brown. These holsters (the left image is a strong side right hand draw and the right image is a right hand crossdraw) are border and rosette stamped with a concho centered on the rosette and are colored our medium russet. Both holster are decorated with nickel spots. You can also see the matching money belt and shotgun cartridge for this pair of holsters at the following Gun Rig #2, Gun Belts #5, or Gun Belt #8.

Original holsters of this style can be seen on page 110 and 112 of
"Packing Iron" as well as on page 96 of "Cowboys & the Trappings of the Old West".
